I've got a 2002 Alumacraft 175 CS Tournament Pro with a 2002 150 HP Optimax. I am looking at putting a Stainless Prop on the motor. Any suggesions as to what would be a good choice? I am looking for all around perfomance, leaning more toward handling than top speed.

Go to your dealer and get a demo prop. Start with a 21 p Tempest. You should be able run Mid 50's with that prop. If you are over revving try a 23 pitch.

I have almost the same setup, but older and efi. Tried the 21" tempest, too much prop. It Did hit 53.4 mph GPS, but the rpms were too low at 5100. I haven't been able to test a 19".

We have hi-5 21" and it goes 48-49 gps at 5300 rpm, so it is slower, but it handles great and runs smoother than other we tested. Maybe a 19" would work better, but it is paid for right now ;) It is also good for heavier loads, as it doesnt slow down like many props will. Add a cooler and two extra people and you still have tons of bow lift. Worth a try, either a 21" or 19".

Also try a Trophy Plus in 20" or 19".

We just like the handling of the hi-5, but I do want to try a 19" tempest some day.

Good luck,
