View Full Version : Off-Shore Planer board Tattle-Flag springs
I know this was discussed in a previous post, but what kind of springs do you guys use for the Tattle Flag? The ones they give you in the kit are too weak for larger cranks. Thanks.

If I'm not mistaken a C73 bought at most hardware stores.

I have used the largest of cranks and had no problems with the stock springs. The important change is to move the upper placement of the spring so it loops over the flag arm. this increases leverage and allows the spring to function correctly. The other thosn to do is add a lower spring placement notch by pushing a knife through the leading edge of the board below the lowest notch. By using a knife this eliminates the occasional "spring becoming free of the board" issue.
combine these two and even the biggest Reef's will work at max depths!
Good luck
