Must the motor be started in order to operate the throttle on the new F50 Yamaha motors?? I just bought a new boat and motor package and the throttle appears to only turn about a 1/4 inch.... of course I have not had it in the water to start it yet.... only sitting in the boat and waiting....

If it is a tiller that is the normal for most Yamaha, so there is nothing wrong.

Thanks. That is what I figured, but I have not had a chance to test anything yet.

I have a yamaha 20 tiller that does this. It is a protection to not ever-rev in neutral. If you shift the linkage to forward, it will twist full throttle. In reverse, it is also limited as to how far the throttle moves. Smart set-up!
