What weight fireline would anybody suggest for pulling off shore boards, also how long of a leader do you tie off the end of it to attach to your crankbait. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I run Offshore boards, but finally I replaced the clips.
Go buy some Church Tackle Co. adjustable super clips and
put them on the arms of your boards. These Church clips
hold the Fireline great and are much easier to take on and
off than the Offshore clips. My hybrid boards now work great
with any weight Fireline.
I do not know if this is what you wanted to find out, but
maybe it helped. Good Luck

I run mainly 14 lb. test Fireline. You maybe able to go
to 10 lb.
Sorry on my other post. Didn't read your post as good as
I should have

I run 10# Fireline and tie drectly to the lure. If you need a shock leader then 10 feet of 10# mono will do it. Off Shore tackle has clips that hold Fireline - new this year. They are Or23, model number. Contact Off Shore Tackle.

Bonus, I have fished with 10 lb fireline for 5 - 6 years now trolling on Erie. I double wrap the line around the older Offshore clips. I may replace the clips someday with the new improved version. I have never had any problem with 10 lb. on Erie.
I use crosslock or duolock clips directly on the Fireline with a Palomar knot. No swivels. No leaders. No problems.
I re-rigged my off shore boards with Church Tackle Roach Clips. I also purchased the new snapper clips and they work good also.
I tie on a cross snap and connect directly to the crank. I had a pole which was a little stiff so I tried tieing a 20' leader of mono. I attached using a uni-to-uni knot and it held nicely.
