Is there a list of top-notch guides for Rainy Lake? With so much water I would like to be on good fishing spots right away and not waste time on unproductive water. The only guide I have heard of in the area is Woody's Fairly Reliable Guide Service but there must be others that guide on Rainy. Thanks for the information!!! Mickey

All of the resorts have guides for hire. You can find some at
this address:

I am driving from North Carolina Saturday morning and will be fishing all next week.
I will be using Woodys guide service but as I said all the lodges and motels in the area have guides.

Good luck

Try a call to Bill Dougherty at Rainy Lake Houseboats 1-800-554-9188, or holler for the Tillerman on the marine band radio--ch 68??--they will give you the channel at RL Houseboats too---he was very helpful in putting us on fish....couple notes: take some leeches with you-don't count on buying them up there this late--they work "dyn-o-mite" on the midlake humps this time of year. A gps helps too--don't crowd anyone--just lock on and keep moving--and come back when you see they're done on the spot...lots of humps around Saginaw Bay west side. Have fun.
