Does anyone have any good way to secure Lowrance plastic covers to the depth finder so they dont blow off on the road? (no, duct tape wont work for me)
On most long trips I will take the whole unit off but the short trips to local lakes I want a cover to protect the screen.
I put on 2 small pieces of velcro on the sides that might work but I have not put them to the 90mph test yet.
Anybody have something they have come up with that wouldn't detract from the unit?

Thanks
Kalin

I don't use the plastic cover provided by Lowrance. I replaced it with neoprene covers from Cabelas...they have worked well. Stretches tight, withstands highway speeds, protects the screens on the electronics and look nice. Just to be on the safe side, I remove the neoprene cover when I get home after a "wet" outing to make sure any moisture does not remain and have a chance to work its way into the electronic somehow. - NWA

How about a big heavy rubber band?

I bought a couple of those soft sided lunchbox/ coolers that fit right over them when they are on the boat, with the lids open, use the carrying strap to secure. If you get the right size the unit will fit inside with the zipper closed when it is off the boat, waterproof and padded. Good luck

I wrap a length of velcro around mine
just wrap it all the way around and press the ens together. no sticking, no glueing just a plain piece of velcro

I use the Cabela's neo too. Work just fine, no problems. On long trips I put the units in a laptop computer case to protect and pad them. Works slick, I can fit my X15, 350A and X85 all in one case.

I had two of these on my last boat for four years. They are hard plexiglass which protects those LCD screens better than a soft cover. They also function as a sun shade which is nice for any unit, especially the nex color screens. They attach with Velcro on the sides and top. Never had one blow off on the water or the road.

Put plastic hair nets over them, they stretch tight over them and cost hardly anything.

Get a Neoprene cover from Humminbird.
