Can anyone tell me what knot I should use for tying jigs on to 6 and 10 LB. Fireline? I have been useing the Triline Knot and I keep breaking off on rocks. I just put the line on my reels and like the way it casts and the feeling is great. But the replaceing of jigs, all the time is getting old.

Frank, I have used a palomar Knot since Fireline came out, it works great. Like any Knot make sure you wet it when you cinch it down.

Use a touch of super glue on your knot if your knots are slipping.

Like the above post states, use the Palomar knot to connect lures to Fireline. It's the only knot I tie when using Fireline.

Good Luck

If you keep breaking off in the rocks, its not the knot. I am not sure if you ment to use other words? If the knot is slipping and comming un done then switch to the palomar. I think the Palomar knot is the easiest to tie anyway.

If you are getting snagged up and then breaking off try a lighter jig and swim it over the rocks. Dont let it settle to the bottom. Nothing can prevent a jig from getting snagged in a rocky area if you are dragging it on the bottom. You could also add some plastic which gives it some bouancy.

With the fireline you should be able to feel the rocks before you get snagged if you keep a tight line.

Your tackle store should have small cards (about the size of a credit card) that illustrate a knot for Fireline. It is printed by Berkeley. I'm not sure if it is the Palomar know they show or not. In any event, I have used this knot all the time on Fireline, and it never slips.

It's possible that your knots are just slipping and coming apart. Fireline is tough stuff. It doesn't break that easy. If you notice a little twisty part on the end of your line, that was your knot. You can successfully use the trilene or improved clinch knots but you have to give them four more wraps.
