Just mounted a new T-8 on my boat and set my panther on the 13 inch set back. I did this for 2 reasons.

1. I have a transducer that is near the mounting position of the T8 and didn't want prop wash screwing up my signal.

2. Worried about motor clearance with the tilt all the way up.

My question is...Would the motor be alot more stable in the 7" set back than the 13" when running in rough water and down the road? I can most likely still tilt it all the way up in the 7" mode and if I have problems with the transducer I can move it. Any ideas?
Thanks- GBA

I just mounted one on a Champion Fishhunter and had it in the 13" setback because there is not a lot of clearance for it in the shorter setback. I ended up moving it to the shorter setback because in the 13" it dragged way too much. Even when on plane the kicker prop was in the water. Now it is totally out of the water which is great. What I'm saying is the shorter setback brings it closer to the boat but more importantly raises it up a little. At least on my boat.

My transducer is on the other side so I can't answer your interference question.
