    Hi,

This Fall I just purchased a 2008 Lund Rebel xl ss with a 50hp 4 stroke. (glad I don't have a 75 like everyone else, I think the 50 hp is the perfect match, and is the extra 5 mph really worth all that trouble).

I am trying to figure out if I should make the upgrade to a 24 volt Terrova 80lb thrust i pilot. I plan on fishing several local bass tournaments (so I need motor to last for 6 hours in wind and waves) I see you have the power drive 55lb trust, how long does the trolling motor last when you you are keeping it at 40 percent (on a rough day) and does it top out at 2mph? Also if I do go for the 24 volt is it worth the trouble to wire one battery up front and one at the back, I'll have to wire the charge too so it will be a little bit of work.

Thank You for your time and consideration.

    Tom

1625 Rebel, I remeber you telling me about your boarding ladder. Does it work good for your wife and kids? I am looking for one for my 1725 rebel sport and not sure if I want one with a platform or just a fold up like you have. How does it stay in the upright (stowed) position?

    Thanks,

    Del

I bought a 1625 Rebel XL SS in August of 2008, the first year they came out. Been a great boat for me. No doubt it would catch a lot less wind than a 21 footer. I would make sure you are okay with the size though and spend some time in the interior. You're likely talking 11-15" narrower beam and 5-6 feet shorter. That's a big difference.

The boat is perfect for our needs though and a 75 hp four stroke planes it very easy and tops it out at 40 mph. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

Is this just a tag name you are using, or do you use one of the 1625s as a boat? Moving down from a 21' boat to a shorter one due to the high winds we get from time to time here..I get pushed around to much in a big boat..barrowed a 16' one and it worked great. BKfisher
