That's kind of the problem with the swing down ladder I bought (Garelick 2 stepper), it does swing down. I currently have it held up with a small bungee cord, but need to figure out something better. As far as 2 steps being adequate to get into the boat, doesn't seem to be a problem for me, my wife, or my 7 year old daughter.
