Hey Pikeslayer, I added you to my contact list. Thanks for the invite. FYI, I lived in Co Spgs for twelve years in the late 70s and 80s. I used to hit the mts. every year for a week with my BIL and fishing buddy. We used to have telescoping poles and fish with #0 or #1 mepps spinners and panther martins. i sure do miss Colorado. I have been through Parker many times wihen i wanted to take the scenic rout back to C Spgs from Denver and avoid I 25, We have been fishing in Canada since 2000 after several years of suffering through Minnesota fishing. See ya.

Hey! Been meaning to send a report on Wabakimi to you. We had a great time! Went with Rustys and they were real good. Actually loaded the plane when we were inside paying. Never had that before.
The lake was BIG. We explored a couple days, but since we were there to fish, we ended up spending most of our time down in Little Wab. Caught a ton there. Went to the extreme main lake west once, just for the trip, went up the outlet arm once for the same. Sturgeon inlet was hit twice. Caught quite a few up there. Islands we didn't really get to, which is a shame, but the other camps really were hitting it hard.
I would say that our weather that week made the fishing quite different from most of the trip reports I have seen. All but one day was warm, sunny, and no wind. The walleye were down and caught in 30-40 feet of water. I don't think I caught a walleye in less than 25 feet the whole week! That made the hotspots different from the info posted, but remember that was our first time too.
All in all, I would go back in a heartbeat. And I am in the planning stages for next year. Its so new to me and so much water that I felt I could've spent another month there and not been bored.
The good - very good fishing, lots of exploring, nice cabin
The bad (but not real bad) - more other boats than I wouldve thought (NW had 4 or 5, Pipestone looked full too), weather wasn't great for eyes, the outhouse (whew!)
You summarized it very well - Its a special place.

Thanks for the reply about drive-in camps . As of right now Pasha Lake Cabins is at the top of our list . We almost went there last summer . I emailed Forrest Lodge about three years ago asking about the camp. At the time I asked about bringing our one Lab and got BLUNTLY turned down . In fact she was not very nice with the reply . All I asked was do they or not . If not ,then the dog would have stayed at home . We have taken her with us 8 or 9 times with Mattice Lake Outfitters without a problem too. Anyway thye lost us . If she would have just siad no and left it at that then we would probably be going there now . If a camp has a no pet policy we understand as some people let dogs run free, do not clean up after them , let them destroy furnishings etc . I have seen peoples children do that LOL . Pasha Lake offers the Little Jakfish River trip. I have fished Little Jackfish in other areas many times . It is as good as any fly-in I have ever been on too.
