The Lowrance screen shots really look sharp. Humminbird version
appears to be a work in progress.

You might want to add the user of the units was not familiar with Humminbird units and admitted probably did not have it adjusted optimally. This was posted on another website from the gentleman who did the "testing".

I see nothing in the string of posts claiming his lack of familiarity with the HB units. He did say it is "new" but it appears he performed a very accurate and un-biased series of tests in comparing the two technologies in a side by side comparison. If you have the link to another website where the gentleman who did the "testing" shown above makes this statment, I'd like to see it!

As the folks within the discussion forum linked to above did, let's keep this clean and as un-biased as did they!!

I saw this someplace else, and the first question I had was "What is the screen resolution between the two shots?"

We know the Lowrance unit is on the HDSS unit, but I am unfamiliar with what resolution that shows on screen. Likewise with the HB unit...

...but if we are looking at 72 dpi on one and 150 dpi on the other, it ain't apples to apples.

Since WC forum rules don't allow me to post links to other competitor forums here is his direct quote from his post the other website:

Quote: "It was my first day out with the new software by Humminbird, and you are probably quite right - maybe I'm not running it at it's optimum. Hopefully time on the water will get me up to scratch with this new upgrade." Unquote

By the way, I run both Lowrance and Humminbird products which both have strengths and weaknesses however I do know that a unit which breaks down often due to quality issues, has poor customer service and is not replaced by the manufacturer promptly upon failure will seldom come out a winner. It does appear he is familiar with HB units but might be unfamiliar with the settings, etc of the new software. Other down imaging examples I've seen from other guys running and testing HB down imaging show much better quality of images and they have much more time on the water using the technology.

Didn't know about that rule, but here it goes anyway.

Some other DI users having problems figuring it all out. Hopefully they will.

These are the only user screenshots from DI I have seen so far.
The ones provided by Hummindird looked much better. Maybe it's
just a learning curve.

Here is a link to Jason Halfen Outdoors website whom I think is getting HB dialed in as good as anyone out there. He has some very good images on his site along with some great info. His site is updated often as he gets more time on the water. http://www.jasonhalfenoutdoors.com/downimaging1.html

I work in a retail sports store that does a lot of business with lowrance and hummingbird and i haven't seen issues with either company. i'm not sure which company you're talking about but i don't feel there is a need to bash two very good companies like that.

I agree, don't know why it always has to end up with a bash post.
