car leaking greenish blue color liquid.
 

went out to the garage this morning and noticed a greenish blue liquid under my 2000 expedition. I know nothing about cars or trucks so can someone tell me if it's anti freeze? Is it driveable? Is it expensive to fix?

Sounds like it could be anitfreeze. You can try and find where it's coming from, or have someone look at it. Keep your dog away from the fluid if you have one. Antifreeze and dogs are a bad combo.

Where is it leaking in reference to the engine? Sounds like it is antifreeze. It could be as simple as a leaking hose which is not expensive to fix. Or it could be something like a water pump or more internal than that. You should have it checked-out as soon as possible you would hate to have troubles when you are on the road.

Green would be antifreeze. Open the radiator by loosening the cap located front center of engine opening and see if it's full. If you can see the green stuff you have enough to get it to dealer or repair shop.

How much was there? If it was just a small puddle and because it's so cold out you probually can make it to a garage. Watch your engine light, if it goes on pull over immediately and turn engine off (but I don't expect this to happen)

If it was blue, it would be window washer fluid, no big deal.

Either way, doesn't sound expensive.

When the engine is cold , you can open the radiator cap and or the coolent overfill tank and check the color to see if it is the same as on the ground. DO NOT TRY THIS IF ENGINE HAS BEEN RUNNING IN THE LAST HOUR!
Transmission fluid comes in different colors and it feels / smells different than coolent and could be a problem if leaking.
Make sure you wash your hands after handling any auto fluids.
Coolent will sometimes come out after engine shut down because without the motor running , the temps will increase for a short period and the cap will let some out.
The best thing to do is go to a oil change service and have them check both.
If you do not need to add , do not worry.
Just have them check it regularlly for piece of mind and longer service.
While you are at it , check your oil level also.
We can touch and smell to identify stray fluids, but we work on them all the time.

The antifreeze suggestions could be right on you should check only your resivoir for proper level because the cycles of heating and cooling automatically fill the radiator by itself.
Another thing to consider is your windsheild washer fluid. Did you wash your window just before pulling into your garage like I do so it is clear on the next cold start and some of it dribbled down to the floor.
Check the color with both of these fluids is a good start.
Water pumps usually have weep holes on the bottom of the housing that if the seal fails will start to drip. A small drip will not hurt anything for a short time if the level is kept at full by just adding to the overflow resevoir.
It will soon become a major leak if this is the culprit so don't delay very long before repairing.
Holidays are a tuff time to get anything repaired.

Have you just recently had service work done on your expedition? Could be that the techie checked your water/antifreeze ratio.......added a little antifreeze and got it a little full. I have had this happen several times. Your resevoir will discharge the excess fluid. No worries if this is the case.

Isn't Ford tranny/brake fluid blue? Or is it red? Can't remember.
