Praire doggin' ?

Haven't been out shooting praire dogs in probably 8 years or so, ever since the guys I go with quit going.

Are spots to go still hard to pry out of people?

Looking to get out one more time at least and not sure of where to go...if I can find someone that wants to come along.

Rather not go to S dakota as I have a hard time with the "you need a guide" there, least at Rosebud last I heard you did.

Thanks for any info.

US Forest Service National Grasslands will have maps of public lands with prairie dog towns. If you see a posted private pasture, don't be afraid to ask for shooting access. Ranchers want to know who is shooting near their livestock, but also like help controlling prairie dog populations.
My father-in-law and I once stumbled over one of those pastures, and the shooting was so good, my 22-250 needed a new barrel afterwards.

Thanks, the Eagle Butte area still reasonably good?
I remember shooting there a couple of times.
Also Mendora (sp?) had some nice shooting, but it's a long ways to go..:)

I'll check the Forest service.

Now just to find someone to go with, that's the hard part.

My neighbor just returned from a prairie dog hunt in Kansas. Some shooters from Iowa told him that the plague had really reduced the SD oportunities anywhere east of Pine Ridge Reservation.

Pink mist, nice way to describe it, I like geysers of guts. :)
