Progressive Propulsion Plus

All:

I just saw a notice of additional coverage available from progressive. It's called propulsion plus. It looks like it covers engine.lower unit damage. This kind of begs the question as to what did we have if we didn't have this? Was that type of damage not covered before? It looks like it covers damage and failures.

Any comments on this?

Thanks...N

Propulsion Plus SM:

( Note: Propulsion Plus Coverage does not pay for breakdowns that occur less than 31 days after this coverage is effective)
Propulsion Plus pays to repair or replace a mechanical breakdown that occurs in the lower unit of an outboard engine, or in the upper and lower units of an inboard/outboard (stern drive) engine. Wear and tear and defects are all covered. A $250 deductible applies to each breakdown.

I won't be adding this to my policy. Sounds like this is just for breakdowns. If I hit rocks i should be covered without this.

Of course I have an evinrude if you have a mercury maybe this would be a good deal. ;)

has to be 10 years or newer. Kinda rules out mine. Oh well.

And most coverages like this are pro rated or depreciated as well.

It is not clear to me if it would cover the lower unit in the event of striking a submerged object, or if it just covers mechanical failure.

I added this coverage after I called them and they said it does cover damage from striking a object.

Progressive Sportsmen's Policy

So does anyone know if the standard progressive policy covers a lower unit in the even it is ruined in striking an object?
