Rock River "Ski's"
 

I was killing some time shopping at Gander in Rockford, IL and a sales rep asked if I need assistance. Said no, but got to talking about muskies and he ended up telling me that: first, I need a boat (that's a given)... He also indicated that he rarely goes to northern wis or MN or canada for muskies becasue they are all over this area. He said he caught 17 last season south of the **** (in rockford). I know ski's are in Pierce Lake, Lake Sule, and Lake Shabbona. My question is, has anyone heard or the Rock River system producing this many fish in a season? If so, what works?Thanks.

Doesn't suprise me at all.

I am not familiar with the Rock at all, but closer to the Peoria area we have several musky producing lakes such as Evergreen, Mcmasters, Shelbyville and more.

If we didn't this wouldn't exist.

I grew up north of Rockford fished the rock river most of my childhood years.
There is a huge amount of fish in that system. the DNR stocked tiger muskies up near janesville on a regular basis. So they are there and since they have been doing it for about 15 years now there is a good range not to mention the natural fish.
I wouldnt eat any fish south of Beloit but for wall hangers have fun.
Spoons and spinner bait buck tails always worked back in the day.
