New Rain Gear

Im in the market for new rain gear and was wondering what you guys thought is the best gear that isn't over-priced. I'm still in high school so I was looking for a jacket and bib combo under $500. Thanks in advance!

Hey Ryan........I'm 56 years old and have graduated to Cabela's guide wear line of rain gear......great stuff, maybe it falls under your $ threshold .....I'm not sure. But I use it as part of my job. For many years I went through cheap stuff, vinyl etc. You're still in high school......you either cut your teeth on the junky rain gear like the rest of us, or spend the bucks if you have it and need it. I think the good stuff really makes a difference to fossils like myself....young guys should be able to cope with less than top of the line. What do you think?

Thanks for the input gord. If I have to spend the money I will. I fish tournaments and need gear that can hold up and will do the job. Thanks again!

I like the BPS 100mph suit. I have the optional liner for the jacket as well. With the liner it's warmer than my winter coat. The only downside is the suit is actually a little warm for use in summer. Therefore I have a lighter weight Cabelas suit that is pack able that I can easily store in the boat.

+1 for Guidewear. Watch Craigslist or the Swap board here. I've seen some pretty good prices.

Go with the "last year's" Guideware. It works very well as winter wear if layered as it breathes.

For summer use I got a set from musky hunter, frog toggs I think, never been wet in them and they are light weight and packable.
