Fisher FX DV 18
I need some honest opinions on the Fisher FX DV 18. I have been checking into 18-20 foot glass boats and the layout of this boat just keeps me interested. Beyond that, how does it perform? Do you need the 200 hp or will the 150 do ok? I read the "hot" discussion regarding the aluminum Fishers and how they became "Trackerized"...does Tracker Marine make the FX DV 18 also? if not where are they put together?
Two other boats that have my attention are the Sylvan Viper and the Skeeter. Don't like the rod lockers in the Viper at all and know nothing about the Skeeter (really liked them when I bought my last boat but haven't kept up with their new stuff!) I would like to keep my price under $30,000 with a kicker and by the looks of it one of our SD dealer can do that on the Skeeter. The Fisher is a "skitch" over 30 and the Sylvan just under. (remember these are just the first dealers I have heard prices from, if anyone knows some hot deals pass them along) Thanks for any help. |
RE: Fisher FX DV 18
I have run a Fisher FX DV 18 for the past 3 seasons. I love it. The lay out is as good as I have seen. These boats also handle any water as good as can be expected. An extremely fast hull design with plenty of storage space ( Not the driest storage compartments though) Get the 200 hp as from what I have experienced boats handle to there best performance with the max rated horse power. It also is good for resale , but you will not want to sell this boat!!
Good luck. E mail me if you have any questions. Bruce <'))>{ |

Nate, I have a 2000 FX 18 DV (200 Opti) treats me fine, only complaint would be be the lack of room for a 3rd fishing pardner. You might do a archives search , I found quite a few different threads about the FX. Purchased mine thru Dano's marine in Pierre SD (He has since opened a dealership in Watertown SD also )(I'm not affiliated in any way with Dano's just a happy customer)

RE: Fisher FX DV 18
This is my first season with a FX18DV. I have a 150 EFI and the performance is good. 52.8 mi/hr GPS with 2 aboard.
The FX18DV is made at the Pro Craft plant, so it is not manufactured by the same plant that makes the aluminum boats. Warranty issues are also handled by ProCraft ,not those handling the aluminum line. ProCraft is owned by Tracker also. Overall it is a good boat, with many features you would enjoy. The rod storage is great, separate tank for the licker, and nice high splash well for you never take on water from following seas. The livewells final finish (on the inside uppermost lip ) is a drawback---and they tend to allow water to slosh over the opening and on to the floor in rough water. The hull is fast, but tends to be sensitive to motor mounting height. One hole up from the lowest position has worked best for me. At the third (middle) hole, porposing was more pronounced in choppy water. The more I use the boat, the more I like it...... |
RE: Fisher FX DV 18
Hey Nate, there's a 2000 fx18dv listed in the WC classifieds in the nebraska section. I think it's 22k with kicker and the works. I'm not sure if it's still available, but it's still listed. It'd be a good deal if it is.

RE: Fisher FX DV 18
The first thing I would do is use the search function, in Boats and Motors, and input fisher. Some really interesting posts on this subject of late.
You asked if Tracker Marine makes the FX DV 18? YUP, they sure do. What Skeeter are you looking at and how is it rigged? I'm not a dealer and I don't have a boat to sell you but I think I might be able to save you a pile of money on a new Skeeter. Send me an email, when you get a chance. Dodge |
RE: Fisher FX DV 18
The Fx 18 DV is built in the Procraft plant in Murfreesboro TN. I have ran this boat on the PWT for the last 3 years and have been very happy with its performance and quality. The rod storage and floor plan lay out are great with a huge area for trolling in the back. The FX is one of few hulls that is faster with an Opti compared to the EFI.
Good luck in your purchase, Rich |
RE: Fisher FX DV 18
I have been using a FX18DV for the past 3 years, and am very happy with it, the layout is very user friendly and handles big water very good. I would go with the 200, not just for performance but resale.
Nate if you are interested in a used one, I am selling mine only because I need a smaller boat to pull behind the new 5th wheel. |
