This is purely for Spinning gear. You're absolutely right about the knot. If this idea pans out I will spend some time experimenting. So far I think I'll try the FG knot as described in the YouTube...

Bill,

I mostly cast jig and minnows. While I'm not trying to make 100 foot casts, the wind makes it tough to get the jig out there whilst keeping the minnow from flying off the jig. While slowly...

The rear deck of a Ranger 1860 is not much of a rear deck! I didn't mind when I got the boat since I never planned on fishing back there! :cookoo:

Minn-kota iPilot for transom?

Not sure if this has been brought up before. I've been running a Terrova with iPilot for about 4 years now. Love it.

My only issue is that iPilot can only hold you pointing the bow into the wind....

I couldn't imagine ever again using a smaller locator than my 1198SI on the console. I'm not bashing Lowrance but this HB unit is really nice. I originally had a 958DI on the bow, but recently traded...

I took a quick look at it over the weekend and it looks like there are 5 holes with my engine using the middle one. In other words, the engine could be moved up two holes or down two holes from where...

With the Tempest Plus 19p on my 1860 and a light load, I get 5900 RPMs and 50 MPH. This is the setup that came from Ranger. My dealer even consulted with them recently to confirm this and they stand...

I've had my 1860 for almost 3 months now and while the 1850 is a great option, I'm really happy with the 1860.

The bigger bow, the rod storage, the consoles - these are the important differences...

New Ranger 1860 & 175 ProXS

I've got 5 hours on the engine so far. This boat came from Ranger with a 19P Tempest Plus. The max RPM I've seen so far is 5500 at 48 MPH (fully loaded, two people, 30+ gallons of gas).

The hole...

I don't disagree in terms of what you find at Walmart, but with Shimano's top of the line Stella coming in at around $650, the $80 Sahara is in their low end.

The Sahara is not a mid-priced reel in the scheme of Shimano's product lines. It's decidedly low end. That said, it's still no reason for a failure like that in 18 months.
