You will know when you have the right combinaton of washers when the cotter pin hole is aligned in the center of any one of the slots in the prop nut after the nut is tightened to spec at 40 ft-lbs...

RE: 2002 115HP 4 Stroke Mercury

WIF,
Can you relate your problem to stabilizer or a brand of fuel? It has to be something simple like that or I would not expect the twins to be exactly the same.

RE: 2002 115HP 4 Stroke Mercury

No problem....with a fresh oil and filter change (recommended 5 lt), the new oil level will read about 1/2 way up the etched part of the oil dipstick. When it starts "making oil", the oil level on...

RE: 2002 115HP 4 Stroke Mercury

I have twin 2000 Yamaha f115's that are the same head as yours. The "making oil" issue is real. But, for me it comes and goes. I did not see it my first year, saw it the second (changed oil once...

RE: Depth finders

I have a new Raymarine DX500 that will read bottom up to ~200' at 40mph. Beyond 200' it has problems. I still need to do some positioning adjustments on the ducer but just not had time.

RE: Yamaha 115 four stroke

Your local marine store or dealer should have a complete configuration of mount and canister. You will need some fittings to attach to it and probably some plugs for the unused holes. Open it up...

RE: Yamaha 115 four stroke

I have twin F115's that are on their 5th summer. The boat came rigged with canister type water separators. I have yet to experience a clog fuel injector. I have changed the separators and each fuel...

RE: 115 Yamaha 4-stroke Problem. Anyone Else?

Do you hear a click when you turn the ignition? If so, it may be the solenoid. The starter gear needs to pop up to engage the flywheel. If it sticks, all you hear is the click of the relay. One...

RE: Yamaha Cowling

I had a similar problem with my Yami F115. It was a hole on the crown but did not damage the decal. I got a similar dealer estimate and the insurance said "no way"! So, I took it around to several...

RE: Trolling alone...kill switch/safety suggestions

I have not done the handheld VHF yet because with the engines off, I can pull myself to the boat with the safety line and climb in over the transom. My reasoning is that the Sound is cold. I need...

RE: Trolling alone...kill switch/safety suggestions

Mac,
I believe the safety rope is the only way to go. I fish in a 23' in the Puget Sound and even with a kill switch, trying to get back to a boat with no near by assistance is difficult. If there...

RE: Tite-Lok or Berts Custom Tackle Track Mounts

I have Berts in two lengths. The 12" I use for downriggers (two on the stern). The 6", I have a half dozen distributed around for rod holders. Two recommendations: make sure that for the...

RE: Yamaha oil filters

JPK,
First, I took a Yamaha filter into my local Auto parts place and asked the counter fellow for help. Took him about two minutes to pull out the Fram motorcycle filter noted. This I then took...

RE: Yamaha oil filters

Yup...read this article. From what I can determine, you are most accurate with the "regular schedule" statement. There is nothing that says you cannot spin a new one on mid way through the oil...

RE: Yamaha oil filters

Numbers,
Here is what I have found when researching filters for my F115s. The only other one I have used is the Fram but am tempted to try the NAPA.

Yamaha 5GH-13440-00 filter crosses to the...

MV,
I run my tandem EZ Loader 30' 90% time in Puget Sound saltwater. It is galvanized. My spindles have sleeves and I had to replace one during the LiquaLube installation. It had been spun. Work...

I...

Raymarine's new Fish-finder Technology

I was leaning towards the Lowrance 135 until I saw the new Raymarine DS5000 HDFI. This looks sweet. Any comments from someone who has had a chance to run one?
Thanks,

RE: Liqua lube oil type

The LL-1000 lubricant is $14/bottle and will do ~4 hubs. At $3.5/hub, it is not worth it to try something else. Order the stuff directly from Liqua-Lube with a credit card.
