RE: WC Mid West Get Together

I plan on driving down for one day. Has anybody fished Leech recently? Fishing was so slow in '02 that I haven't been back since. I used to do well on the Walker Bay humps in September - have they...

RE: Red line...

None of the local stores had the line, so I ordered from Cabela's and it will be a while before I can test it. I'll post when I get it spooled up and can give it a try. Actually, I had a super day...

RE: Mercury wins - we lose?

I'm happy for you. I like to fish bigger lakes, and I wasn't comfortable being out there with mine, particularly in the evening. Nothing would make me happier than to see the boys from Osh Kosh build...

RE: Mercury wins - we lose?

If you want another 2000 Opti, I'll sell you mine at market price. I lost more fishing time on this motor than all the other motors I've owned, combined. The class action victory won't do me any...

RE: Mercury wins - we lose?

I guess if you lose the Optimax class action suit you just grease your congressman and get a tariff imposed. I find it disappointing that Mercury can't compete on an equal footing.

RE: Pick a place to live !!

I've never fished Portage, but I must have passed the entrance a few thousand times on Hwy 2.

RE: Pick a place to live !!

I hate to see resorts sold so developers can do expensive homes or condos. With so many resorts being sold, it's getting tough for a young couple to take their kids fising for a week. I've past where...

RE: Pick a place to live !!

Despite my grousing about the yuppie invasion, I'm in a pretty good spot in northern MN - 6 miles to Bemidji, 12 miles to Cass and 25 miles to Leech.

RE: Pick a place to live !!

Wow, T-Mac, when you moved the population of Bena must have fallen 50%!
Sadly, Bena and Federal Dam are dying. The native craft shop in Bena has closed and the gas station is for sale. In Federal...

RE: Red line...

Thanks for all the responses. After I get back from fishing today I'm going to order some. I'll post later to indicate how well it worked for me.

RE: Red line...

Thanks, I remember the Cajun name now. Is it good for spooling the entire reel, or should I just use it as a leader?

Red line...

Bite has been tough this year due to cold weather not kicking up the algae production and waters staying very clear. A while back there was some discussion about a red line that became invisible...

RE: Optimax oil

I don't buy bulk, just a couple at a time, and am paying $20.99. I would buy elsewhere if they want $26.

RE: Missed it by that much...

"Missed it by that much" reminded me of the old "Get Smart" tv series. Congrats on the nice fish.

RE: snoozing fish

Stallion, if you're Italian, you must have heard of "sleeping with the fishes." I live on a lake, and sometimes their snoring keeps me up all night.

RE: Pattern or coincidence?

I don't fish evenings very often. I always have my best morning results in the 7-9 a.m. window.

RE: Leach Lake ????

If you're referring to the one at Walker, MN, it's spelled Leech, but that usually doesn't keep people from getting responses. Fishing has been excellent on Winnie, Cass and Bemidji, so that may be...

RE: Pinpoint Trolling Motor

Jeff, if it won't turn left, it must be a Republican, hehehe. I would gladly give it to you, but it is now at Maxxum Rigging in Walker, MN. I'm sure they would sell it to you at a reasonable price. ...

RE: Pinpoint Trolling Motor

It started snapping to the left and then to the right. Basically, it became uncontrollable, and then it died. I phoned Mark at Motor Clinic and it was going to be $640 for a re-work. That wasn't so...

RE: Pinpoint Trolling Motor

Pinpoint has been bought out by Motorguide, and I doubt you can get an old manual from them. My 3700 finally conked after 4 trouble-free years and I'm no longer in need of the manual. If you want...
