Of course you need to let the fish tell you what they want. It's good to have a starting point and adjust from there. Fishing methods and of course what you are pulling will be a huge factor as well. I like to target aggressive fish when i troll so i go between 2 and 2.5 which puts me over more fish in theory. I agree with the water temperature theory mention here as a good starting point
