I tried an ion for the first time last week. Guy fishing with us brought one out. Drilled a hole through 5" and it took a loooong time. went back to the cordless drill and punched the rest of the holes with that. (I don't know which model, battery etc. etc. he had) but I was a little surprised. Couldn't imagine using that in a foot + of ice. But again I'm sure there are better models out there.
