Default RE: Best Walleye Lakes in North Dakota

I'm not sure what Woodlands charges, but you did ask for "top notch". I go to Woodlands for lunch when I feel like treating myself.

If Woodlands is too expensive, you could try the Casino. Their is a free launch right at the casino, they have slips, not sure about availability, a rather new motel, c-store, restaraunts etc all right there on site - only 2-3 miles out of town, about 2 miles from Ed's Bait shop, which may be where you would buy live bait.

About the only thing they do not have at the Casino, is alcohol - it's a dry reservation.

If you'd like a very inexpensive option, Graham's Island State Park. You could camp in your camper, or tents, or one of the state owned sleeper cabins if available. They have showers for the campers, nice access, but no (very limited) docking area. You'll pull your boat out instead of park it and come back later. About 5 miles out of Devils Lake, which is where you'll find the restaraunts, bait shops etc.

There are several motels in town as well.

IMO - for a week long stay - balancing my lack of funds checkbook with desire to fish - I'd suggest the Casino, mainly due to slip. If you can get a dock space, it would be really nice not having to trailer your boat every day. The Casino motel also has a very, very nice pool and hot tub area. If your bringing a family, the pool would be where your children would want to swim.

Before coming up, buy your leeches by the pound - if you'll be up in the first half of summer - get more than a few lbs per angler.
