Default looking for help with a Magellan NAV 6500

I am looking for help initiating a Magellan 6500 gps chartplotter, that I got from my cousin who had bought it used. It is displaying 1 day ahead on the UTC date nd it will not let and it will not let me set the UTC time. I called customer service at Magellan and was told that they don't have anyone that is trained on this unit because it is too old. I suspect that it is a Y2K glitch because it was made in 1998. If anyone has had any experience with this problem and would share the answer or refer me to someone that could hep me, I would appreciate it. It does get a GPS Fix ok, but I don't believe that it is displaying an accurate location and I fish near the state line on Lake Erie. Thank You
