Open?

Does anyone know if the river is open at red wing pool 4? if it is, which landing is open? Also, how has the fishing been and where?? Im new to the area and to river fishing....thanks

A stretch of pool 4 from Lock and Dam 3 down to near the head of lake Pepin remains open year round. Most of the boat ramps are iced in, but one that is open year round is Evert's Resort. They are a couple miles downstream from Lock 3 on the Wisconsin side, and 2-3 miles up from Redwing. He does charge a launch fee, and he has a bait shop and always a few hot tips. On nice weekends this stretch of the rive can be a very popular place for cabin fever sufferers.

Lucky for you a few years back they built a nuke plant, provideing plenty of warm water, from what I hear the fishing is always good on 45 degree days even if they don't bite, I think there is a site called fishing the river they may have more info, good luck
