Question Garcia Revo Toro

Looking to purchase a new reel. Anyone using the Revo Toro 60? Using it mainly for bucktails. Also looking at the Shimano Curado 300.

Thanks in advance

The Shimano Curado is the more proven reel having been out in the market for a few years, and to my knowledge is very durable. The Revo Toro is pretty new with only a few testers playing with it last year, so this will be its first year out in the real world. I have seen one up close and they look nice, seem to have a good drag (24 lb), nice big handle and a few choices. Only time will tell how it does, but I liked what I have seen of it.

Thumbs down

I have not played with the Toro, but I have owned the top of the line Revo. I was unimpressed completely. The reel just had NO consistency in casting/braking. It was all over the place. 10 cast would be perfect and then the 11th would act like you had just oiled the brakes or they didn't work at all.

Abu needs to go back to the drawing board on the guts of the Revo's in my opinion. I never owned a spinning reel until 1999, I started with baitcasters when NO brakes existed on them, so I have a little time playing with baitcasters over the years. The Revo is one I'd avoid at this point.

I don't have the Toro.
But I have the Revo. And have NO problem.
And I am thinking of getting an other one.

Maybe I purchased a "bad" one? But from what I have heard form other anglers, it's a common occurrence with the braking on the Revo, it being all over the board.

I have the Revo S, two of them. I am not sure how the more expensive models are set up, but on mine, you remove the side cover and there are the slide weights in there that can be adjusted.

I use my Revo's for trolling, and love them. However, I have never even tried to cast one of them.
