Just looking for some candid feedback. I'm considering making an offer on a used boat with a 2008 Suzi 140 hp outboard that has very low hours (< 20). What have been any experiences with this power plant?

Great motor!! I have a Johnson 140 (same engine) and it has been great for me. The only problem was listed earlier on this site with cutting out. I replaced the primer bulb and it has ran great since!

I have a Johnson 140 and love it. So quiet at idle I have to look to see if it is running. Great hole shot and tops out at 6200rpm at 45 mph. Do a search here and you'll find alot of positive responses.

I bought one new in 2003. Has been an awesome runner. Suzuki will be at the top of my list if & when I purchase another boat. I have it on a Lund 1700 Fisherman, top speed is a little over 43 mph gps & I also troll crankbaits with it at about 2.5 mph gps. Very quiet, very easy on gas.

A friend has tons and tons of hours on his 140 Suzuki, and it's been trouble free. Great torque, trolls down well, smooth and quiet.
The only hesitation would be accessibility to a dealer. We've got one right in town, but they are somewhat few, and not plentiful in areas. In the rare instance it breaks, the more uncommon the breakdown, with limited distribution, you may have to wait a bit for parts. Many many years ago, that was an issue for a friend. He was unfortunate enough to have to wait for the factory to schedule the part build, after a shut down. But honestly, it's so rare they give any problems at all. Kind of like the energizer bunny. |

Super engine. Not the fastest in the pack but dead reliable.
