Thumbs down Lowrance quit working!!!!

My dash Lowrance a 17 xm (I believe), will not turn on. I have tracked down the power to it and it has power to the unit but will not turn on.

My question is. Has anyone else had this problem, and any solutions. Also is it worth sending back to Lowrance to see if it can be fixed? The unit is only about 4 years old.

Any help would be appreciated. I read other reviews of Lowrance's service some good some bad.

Thanks in advance.

I replaced two 102C units 9/09 with refurbished 102C's through Lowrance. I bought the original units new 3/2005 (I think) ... and they got to the point where they would not turn on. I had to send in each unit separately and get a separate return authorization for each one. I also had to cough up $200 for each refurbed unit.

I ran the refurbs 4 weeks 8-12 hours a day this year. They worked fine. I would do it again.

This is the Lowrance site that I used to get the refurbed units.

I do not think Lowrance services 17's any longer like my 15, but I could be wrong.

I believe when you call, they will offer you a coupon for money off on a new unit.

Lowrance is still servicing the LCX17 for $200. Servicing means they take your non-functional unit and send you a refurbished unit from their stock. You don't get your original unit back, but turn-around time can be be very good if Lowrance has a re-furb in stock.

If you want to have that 17 serviced, don't delay. For all we know, this is the last year 17's will be serviced- there's usually no official warning.

Yup. That is per the information in the website I listed in my prior post. The number to call to participate in the program is listed at the top of that website. They will give you all the information you need to participate in the program.

When I sent my 102C's in (got a separate Return Authorization for each and had to send each in separately in its own shipment) I got the refurbished units in less than 2 weeks.

Default Members of Walleye Central are the greatest

Thanks to all for the information. As normal this the greatest site for asking for help. All I need to do is figure it I want to spend the $200 on a re-furbed one or on a new one. Again thank you all for your help.
