Anyone had any issues with certain brands? Ive never used them but they would def come in handy i think. Only thing is i pull some Deep divers (25+ ft) and not sure how they would hold the rod with that much pull from the lure and then a fish on top of it.

Karas,
Remember, rod holders only have to hold as much stress as the rod can exert on it before the drag starts to slip. It doesn't matter how heavy the fish is or how much the pull on the line from the crank bait. I assume that you are running like 10-20 lb test line. If so, I can't imagine any rod holder setup that could not easily hold a force from a 20 lb weight on the end. REW |

I've been using the Cabela's 360 rod holders made by Scotty for the last 4 years, no problems at all. No issues with the extensions, when I use them.

I made some extensions for my ram mounts. I used a metal shower curtain and put a wood dowel inside. I pull offshore boards wit cranks and spinners on Lake Erie and have never had a problem with mine. My longest holder is 24" long.

This year mike Knippenberg and myself are running Cisco short cradles on Cisco extensions. Our front holder us roughly 36 abinches above the gunnel. Middle is roughly 20, rear most is 10. It is the best thing I have ever used for pulling boards. Clearing lines is Childs play even by your self with a fish on in one hand and crank up the other one handed. Honestly the cats meow!
