This has been driving me nuts, how big is this fish!? I was an idiot and didn't get a girth measurement, and only a rough measurement of length at around 27 inches. No one around to take a pic of me with it either, bummer. The mounted walleye is my dads, 29in long 18.5 girth, weighed around 9.5lbs. My fish was much fatter, full of eggs. Any guesses would be appreciated. I used the WC weight calculator and it put my dads fish at over 11lbs??? I don't think it was that big, meaning if mine was a girth of 20 inches, it would also be over 11lbs??

According to the length weight calculator on WC your father's fish weight should be 11.5 lbs using the same calculator and the picture and length you gave your fish should weigh 9.5 to 10 lbs your length of 27" is 4.25 times the width making the width 6.5"x 2 (both sides) + 3.5 ( bottom and top) = 16.5" girth, how's that for a guess ? And that's what I would tell in my fish story. Any way that's a real nice fat fish !

If that fish is 27 inches it is probably 9 lbs. I have one mounted from years ago that is a little bit more of a football and it was exactly 10 lbs 27 inches .

A great looking fish like yours should never drive you nuts and you shouldn't worry about the size.
Enjoy the beauty of the fish and better yet the memories of its catch. Enjoy REW |

Normally during the yr. that 27" fish would be 7-8lbs 28 -29" fish 8-9lbs. 29-30" fish 9-10Lbs. I caught a 30 1/2" it was 10 1/2 lbs. I thnk if you catch them just before the lay eggs you may have a pound of eggs in a female

I had a 28in walleye dripping eggs, and it was over 10lbs on my digital scale, she was round as she could be.

This is a pretty good rule of thumb. You can add as much as two pounds for unusally fat, egg laden fish that are over 27". Those type of fish occur in lakes with alewife forage, for example. I'd bet the fish you are asking about is right around 8 lbs. |
