Default The new kicker is here! Got a ?

Might not be worth it, but decided to ask anyway.

I have a 24v trolling system, can you attach the kicker (electric start) to one of the batteries and get 12v?

If so, this would charge that battery while trolling correct?

Can the starter work on 24v?

If you charge one battery on a 24v system, what happens to the other battery?

Sorry for the stupid questions, I could find it with a google search.

If so, this would charge that battery while trolling correct? Yes, as long as the kicker has a charging system

Can the starter work on 24v? NO!

If you charge one battery on a 24v system, what happens to the other battery? it remains at the state of charge it was at

Sorry for the stupid questions, I could find it with a google search. No such thing as a stupid question, only stupid answers!

So I should be able to wire through a battery switch like a Perko and charge one battery for a while and then the other.

Probably not. In order for that to work, the (2) batteries would need to have a common ground connection. In a 24-volt, batteries in series scheme, the ground from one battery connects to the positive of the other.

It's not impossible to do, but it would require a LARGE DPDT (double pole, double throw) switch between the kicker and the batteries.

Oh well. It is going to be comforting to have a backup when I'm 20 miles down the lake next weekend.

I wonder if he got a series/parallel switch from a truck shop or equipment dealer would work in this application - I don't see why it wouldn't.
