I know there are a lot of educated people on here where Seul is concerned. I am going on my first muskie fishing trip, trying to get my first muskie. Headed to Lac Seul at the end of the month.
Bought a whole new rod and reel, plus a bunch of muskie specific baits based on what Ive read here and seen on TV. If anyone has any tips on catching Muskie in Seul, I would appreciate it. I am staying near Tuk Bay. I have attached an image link of the lake map so we can have a common frame of reference for any locations people might point out. Its a big lake so Im hoping we are situated relatively close to some good spots. Thanks!!! Cant get the hyperlink to work so here is the link: http://v6.cache3.c.bigcache.googleap...rect_counter=2 |

Hey Randy,
Just got back from the NE section where you will be located, its a massive area to fish and can be tough if you don't know what you are doing. (not where I would start my muskie fishing career) That being said though you are in prime muskie country.. Going to Lac Seul you are definitely not looking to put multiple fish in the boat but more so people go up there to fish it for a giant 50+" fish. Its an absolutely phenomenal fishery up there but as far as muskies go its a really low density deal up there. Good luck and let us know how you make out. |

Thanks for the post. It is a big area but we will be there for 5 whole days of fishing, so we have nothing to do but explore and hunt the fish. I realize how elusive these fish are, but the pike and walleye seem to be abundant so if we are striking out for too long, we can always switch up and go for some nice Walleye or Northern. Im under the impression that the walleye bite like crazy on this lake so it should be all good.
But we are experienced and determined fishermen. We are in the boat from 6am to 7pm with a couple of small breaks for food during the day. We love to read maps and explore to target fish. I have tons of muskie specific tackle and have been doing research on this type of fish for months now. I think Im in a good position to pull one. Just over a week to go.... :P |

Thats awesome, good to know you are willing to put the time and effort in to raise and catch one of the giants up there. They are definitely out there!! I would suggest having a relatively early dinner and then be sure to be on the water during "prime time" (5-dark). We had multiple encounters this year at 6pm and be sure to get to a spot you want to around that time, there was a couple instances where we pulled up around the corner only to see someone fishing in the area we wanted to. I know there is a ton of shoreline up there to fish but there are definitely more people targeting them over the past few years. Good luck to you and be sure to let us know how you come out. You can send me a PM and we can discuss some spots if you'd like.
