Default lund tiller's 18 & 20'

Anyone have experience with trolling in a 18 or 20' lund tiller? I am shopping and want to make sure my horsepower selection will troll down to 2.5 mph without a trolling plate. I also don't want to be grossly under powered. Lund only offers top speed data. Any advice?

I have a Lund 20' Pro guide with a 150 Optimax. Slowest I can troll is 2.3 mph

My Pro V 2075 w 200 Verado tiller will troll down to 1.7 - 1.8 or so. If I want slower speeds, I attach a medium drift sock off the front bow cleat.

My 1825 pro guide with a 90 merc four stroke can troll down to 1.7 with the RPM adjuster.

Default Kicker motor helps

I have a 2010 ProGuide with a 9.9 ProKicker, .8 in calm water. I run it and my auto pilot Minkota at 1.8 on Lake Erie just fine. I don't and wouldn't run my big motor for trolling. If you are going to run a big motor I would run 1 or 2 drift socks off bow.

I would buy a kicker, even a used one. Then you don't have to worry about being underpowered.

I had 2 different 1825 proguides both with 90 e tech's. One went 1.7 the other 1.8 with the big motor. I wouldn't bother with a kicker on the 1825 at all,I didn't mind putting hours on the motor. The 20 ft don't now didn't have one..

I think it has been covered, but if 2.5 is what you want you can fine tune with the rpm buttons on the merc 4 stk.

Maybe I am missing something, and I apologize if so but why not use a Terova?
