Got out Friday night and trolled stickbaits along High Cliff shoreline for a couple of hours without a bite.
Saturday we fished Larsens with spinners/crawlers for about seven hours. Got a 23"er ten minutes after setting up near the green can at the north end. Lager size, hammered silver blade with white beads behind a couple of small split shot 100' behind the board in 24 fow. Caught a bunch of sheeps, some stripers, a small smallie, a sucker, and two gobies during the next several hours until we got a 21" eye at the south end of the reef. This one hit a spinner close to bottom in 20 fow. Heard some excellent perch reports back at the ramps. Also, heard some nice kings were caught in the channel. Sunday was bass fishing day. The bite was off. Fished many *normally* good spots with Kalins Lunker Grubs on Grubmaster Jigs and only got a few. Other bass guys we talked to reported similar action. Some unchecked theories were that the bass went deep. Monday we went perchin for a few hours before heading home. Spent most of that time at the perch can in the channel with about twenty other boats. Got a few nice ones mixed in with gobies and tiny perch. Heard that one boat in the area did very well. Others reported slow action. Anyone else here fish the bay this weekend? I'm interested in hearing what and how you did. Jeff Zurawski Downer Grove, IL |

Fished Sunday for about an hour on Larson's then my brother was sea sick so we went in the inner bay. Trolled shad raps on the edge of the channel caught a couple nice pike and a few bass. Are you sure them fish were gobies? There is a few fish that look similar. The biologists don't think the gobies are here yet. Looks like there is a big bass tourny coming up 'cause I saw several bass boats milling around. Was just a bit rough out there for my brother otherwise I would have a walleye report. I think they were safe on Sunday 'cause I saw boats going out and not lasting long on the outer bay.

Ya Trap, pretty sure those were gobies. There's lots down here near Chicago.
Do much nightime walleye fishin on the bay? I would've liked to do more of it while i was there. I saw no other fishin boats for the few hours I was out after dark. Jeff Zurawski Downers Grove, Il |

I do most of my nightime fishing in the spring of the year. Ten fish nights can happen, with a few big girls of course. In fall I go out when the water is much cooler. Fish are caught but not the size that spring produces. Just troll 18's after dark in 15 fow or less and hope for the best. The only way to catch them is to go fishing! Good luck TRAP

Fished Door County reefs and caught fish to 31" on crawler harnesses. 15-24 feet down over 30-50 feet of water. Fished windward side of sunken reefs, islands and shoals.
Good Luck. |
