Not only is the lake warming very very fast (my fish finder had 72 degrees) But the fishing in Erie, Pa is gettin better every day.
I fished on tuesday and we found us a mess of perch. The perch are alot deeper than they have been in the weeks before. They have moved out into deeper water, we were marking them like crazy in 50ft and thats where they were. After the perch patrol was over we trolled for about 3 hours for walleyes, and we did manage one nice 29in 9lb walleye in those three hours. And take a wild guess what we caught it on...PURPLE DEAMON REEF RUNNER THAT I JUST BOUGHT...Now im hooked on the baits. I heard of alot of guys doin very well on the walleyes. But right now the fish are shallow...Most every one is trolling the cookie sized dipsys and flatlining plugs off the boards in like 40-60' of water. I think if you put in a good long day you could wind up with a few fish... I think we might see that school this year if this 90 degree weather keeps up.. CB

Tom...Go out of walnut...The fish that most of the guys were gettin were from the line to trout run. I heard some had 7...not too bad in my book. All of the fish i saw were huge all in the 25"+ range. Most guys are trolling using the cookie dipsys with harnesses then stacking a spread of lures on the boards (bombers, Reef Runners, Thundersticks).
The one fish we caught in our short time of trolling absolutly inhaled the reef runner, ate both sets of hooks. The way the weather has been, and the way the lake has been behaving we should see a school of fish showing up. July is usually a good month and so is august and early september, so even if the fish show up late there shouldnt be a problem in gettin a decent catch. When u get up there like u said based on weather id start in 50' and start working your way into deeper water, edges of the trenches and the hump (the area between the two trenches) always produce early on in the season...
