Oneida Lake, NY-10/7
Finally got up to Oneida Saturday-got on the water about 5:30 am-casting by the creek mouths-nothing. Started trolling the outside weedline about 1/8 mile off the shore in about 12-15 fow-nothing going on there also-except me getting peppered with birdshot from duck hunters!!! Needless to say-I cranked out to the deeper water quickly, after some yelling at the top of my lungs!!!
I started getting getting good marks once I got to the 35'+ depths-suspended and on the bottom. I ended up catching 10 eyes from 12-24"-4 perch and about 10 silver bass. First eye at 8am on a board trolling silver/black Rogue-next one was on a crystal perch Renosky, 2 oz snap weight 50/50. I was marking a lot of fish on the bottom-so I pulled in one of the boards-put on a purple prism Kaboom deep diver (that has always worked there) and a 4 oz snap weight bouncing the lure off the bottom. That was the ticket! Fish after fish-brought the other board in, ran the same program on both rods right off the side of the boat, and had a blast all day. The weather was gorgeous-sunny, no wind, flat calm and non-stop action all day.
