A good place to start is the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks website. http://www.sdgfp.info/Wildlife/hunting/Index.htm. I have seen plenty of chicks and adult birds around my place (north of Brookings, SD) but this may be one of the last exceptional years because one of these years we are going to have a good old SD winter along with the loss of almost a millilon acres of CRP over the next few years.

Default Birds!!!!

Was out yesterday morning till 1pm driving around the country side. It was a cool 70 degrees, overcast (almost like fall) day yesterday. The birds were CRAZY!!! Every single county road mile I drove down it was a max of 25mph because the young of the year birds were everywhere, 2 or 3 big broods per mile.

No more concerns of a bad hatch, it was just a late one.

The GF&P roadside counts should be out shortly, I will post on here when I see the come out.

Good to here that the birds are back better then ever, I will be out on the opener for 5 days.
