Default 2007 merc 4stk gear oil

Want to change my lower gear case oil,and I don't live near any marine dealers to get the mercury oil.What type/brand of oil could I use? 80w 90 ? synthetic?

Pennzoil marine, regular or full synthetic gear lube, from an autoparts store... I've use the syn in my last 2 Merc's...

In a pinch I've used standard Valvoline 80W90 gear lube. I just make sure it's GL 4 or 5 rated. My preferance is to use Mercury's HP gear lube.
