RP 250
I have the exact same rig and had the same issues. Most of the time if the ramp isnt really steep I can unhook the winch strap then give it a little push and off it goes. When the ramp is super steep hook up your painter or bowline to the bow hook and wrap the rope around the winch post and tie off with a simple knot. Then unhook the winch strap and feed out the bowline slowly while its wrapped around the winch post. I always spray the bunks, if you dont the thing is a beast to load. one other thing is if you back in too far the bow will come down and hit the trolling motor on the front roller and mess up the bowmount TM (Terrova). thanks guys, I mainly was curious if this was normal for this type of boat and trailer. Sounds like its not, I just have a boat thats anxious to get into the water. Scared the *@#$ out of me!! Guess I'll leave the strap on and get used to doing it that way. Thanks for the advice.. Now I have to figure out how to catch walleyes, its alot different than bass fishing!!

That raises the question: Has anyone found a product to remove the silicone's affect on the carpet?

I have never had my 620 move even a twitch when backing in. However i have a friend who's 620 did slide off when fishing late in the fall last year. Ice had formed on the bunks from the previous days fishing. Between him telling me of the ordeal of trying to get the boat back on the tralier and what it cost to fix the gelcoat that was damaged from the pavement, I now try to keep the strap on till the trailers tires are touching water. Why chance it? Ken

Regarding not being able to unhook when there is tension on the strap... I found a quick release hook gismo at west marine that I rigged with a separate rope, that allows me to release under tension. Unwind the winch till the boat is pulling on my rope which allows me to unhook the winch strap... now hop in the boat and lean over to pull the quick release and off I slide. Works like a charm!
