Most of my walleye fishing is done in remote locations where there isn’t access to power. Consequently, the power source for my Lowrance X-85 sonar unit (draws 400 milliamps per hour with the back light off) has been a 33 amp hour 12 volt deep cycle battery. Unfortunately, my X-85 is on its last legs and I need a replacement sonar unit. While I’d love to upgrade to a colour unit like the Lowrance LCX-27 or LCX-37, I’ve learned from others that these units are best used with their back lights on (requires 1100 milliamps per hour). That kind of power requirement eliminates both units from consideration in my application.
Consequently, I’m contemplating the purchase of a Lowrance X-135. The X-135 has 480 X 480 pixels, 4000 watts of power (PTP) and draws 550 milliamps per hour with the back light off. I’d appreciate pro and/or con comments regarding the X-135 from those of you who are using or have used this sonar unit. Thanks in advance. |

I have a 135X on the bow of my boat as well, it's a great unit and it's pretty much the same as the high dollar color units..minus the color.
The 125 X is a cheaper version as well, same unit less power, if your not fishing a super deep lake the 125 will fit the bill, it's still a powerfull unit. |

Thanks for responding guys. As a consequence of your comments, my confidence has increased in selecting the X-135 to replace my X-85.

Retire, I have 520c on rear and x-135 on front. I thought about getting color on the front also, but after using the 135 on the front, I'm not gonna change it. Works perfectly. Also someday if you get into networking these, the 135 can be networked as mine is and the 125 can't be...

I don't know about the X-135 but right now I am not happy with my X-125. One minute it runs nice and the next minute it is all over the place. Forget reading the bottom at anything over 10 mph. I did the reset on it per Lowrances online help section and this worked until after a year and the warranty was up. I have contacted Lowrance and I am waiting for an answer I have pictures online at my website www.2lbgil.com of what the unit does when it acts up. http://www.2lbgil.com/lowrance/
