I tried my dual freq skimmer transducer on my lowrance 27c over the weekend and I couldnt believe how slow the scroll speed was!
I had the chart speed and ping speed up to 100 and it was still slow. It sure picked up my riggers nice though. Seen a bunch more fish on the dual than what showed up on the single freq. While on the water I switched back to my single 200kHtz skimmer and scroll speed was back to normal (fast). Is there some setting im overlooking or are the dual beams just slower?

I don't know all the technical jargon as to why this is the case, but when set to dual frequency the scroll speeds are slower. Both of my Garmin units (GPSMAP 178C, and 240 Blue) are the exact same way when set to dual frequency.
I suppose it may have something to do with the time the processor needs to intrepret the two different frequencies and then draw on the screen, but again I'm not sure. Last edited by walleyefreak; 08-19-2009 at 05:48 AM. |
