Default Pulling a 620 Ranger

What is the best and economical pulling rig for this unit?

Have a 2001 Chev Sub 5.3 Vortex 3:73 axle auto trans Has a tuff time pulling
Think it is rated at 285 hp

Any reecomendations I can do to increase hp and pulling power .... if there is such a thing?

167,000 miles on the rig now

I like the ride of the sub and all the storage but pulling? another issue

Thanks

Dave

Cold Air Induction System and a Computer Chip would help. You really shouldn't have any problem towing though, or your truck is just flat out tired or something is wrong with it. Any full size Chevy should have no problem towing a 620

I pull my 619 with my '99 Suburban. Not going to win any races, but that is ~10,000 pounds of rig going down the road. Sub is a little soft in the suspension, pickup would handle the load better. But, you don't have the seating or inside storage in a pickup - it's all a trade-off.

My brother's F150 hauls my 619 just fine, but still is not going to wow you with it's performance.

I'm always more concerned about stopping.

My buddy pulled my 621 with a 06 or 07 F150 it pulled it very nicely with ease and wasn't to bad on gas, we took it to NY about a 4:15 trip to on about 23 gallons of gas figured it got about 10 mpg towing.

I used to tow my 621 with a trailblazer with a v-6 it struggled on hills on the freeway and you had to get into the pedal and big bumps were felt but it did the job, not good for long trips but it handled it just okay. I have a 6.0 litre in my SS trailblazer and it pulls like a champ now plenty of power and it has air bags and that helps alot too but still doesn't tow as nice as a full size truck due to the wheelbase.

A loaded down 620/621 I believe weighs with trailer in the ballpark of 5K just FYI, I actually didn't know this is what someone told me so I'm still not positive but I believe it.

F150 will pull it fine. I pulled one with a Ford Ranger. I wouldn't do it all the time, but it works.

I pull my 2050 Reata with an '04 Ford F150 with the 5.4 litre motor. I live in a valley. No way out without going up a long, steep hill. The truck has no problems whatsoever doing so.
