I bought a lever action browning model 81 22-250 used. It was very dirty so I took it apart and cleaned it well. I have it all back together, and was wondering how to make shure I have the timing correct.

Browning wants you to send it to their repair facility for headspace adjustment. A decent gunsmith with go/no go/field gauges can do it, but it's time consuming. My backyard smith has done it. He said getting the rack and pinion gears in the exactly righ spot wasn't quick and easy.
