I'd like to hear a "hard hitting" interview with Jim Kalkofen about the demise of the PWT. What mistakes were made that caused it's collapse, and given the wisdom of hindsight, what could he have done differently? Given that context, what was the logic behind the "super pro" series in 2006 when he knew it would kill new recruitment, and force many to quit? I.E. was it a last ditch effort to save something he knew was going to fail, or did he actually think that "exclusion" and "protectionism" would magically grow the sport?
Hopefully, a candid conversation like this can help other organizations avoid similar mistakes in the future. However, Jim is pretty smooth, and it will take persistance to get him to really talk and not dance around the questions. |

How about Andrew Klopak. It seems like Lund has let go a real asset. He could give us his thoughts on the struggling boat industry.

Hey Fanatics, I don't get out much anymore and don't visit the board as often as I'd like but I've noticed that you guys are on the Tourney board a lot and I see that Juls helps drive some traffic for you and your site. Are you Walleye Central sponsors or is WC a sponsor of Fanatics? In the small world of walleye media I'm sure you guys run in to each other at almost every turn. I think a great show would be: your history in the walleye world; a little history of the walleye media online; and a panel discussion of the interweb media types in the walleye world discussing how this segment of the industry is conducted, how it is growing and what are the variables that support successful vs. unsuccessful sites. We've all been told many times how small the walleye industry is and how everyone seems to know everyone after awhile. That would seem to make for difficult conditions for sites/programs like Fanatics. So for those of us on the outside it would be fascinating to listen to how you guys conduct business, how relationships and sponsorships are cultivated for you interweb moguls; how do you collect and determine what content to use; etc..

Every now and then throw in a local bait shop and discuss the fishing conditions of the lakes in that area and the lures and techniques that are working.
Toss in a couple of lure and invention designers to discuss their products (I mean the true designers and inventors, not a company that stole the idea) Maybe even someone who has caught a state or world record fish to tell their story. |
