Default Lms 522ic troubles

Lattlty my 522 has been looseing bottom once it gets over 20 ft deep. It dose'nt matter how fast i'm going. I'm trolling at 2.50 to 2.65 for pike in montana. Everytime i get to 20ft the screen goes blank. Any suggestions would really help. I don't know if it has anything to do with the transducer or the internal antenna. I've tried moving my ducer and nothing. I tried moving the screen away from the windsheild and still nothing. Thank.

Do you have the beta software that "fixed" the shallow water troubles these units had? If so, it may be that the sonar setting is for "shallow water" and that might be causing the unit to lose bottom in deeper water. I would check what setting you have under the sonar setup menu.

I hope this helps.

Is it just the chart you are losing, or is the digital depth number flashing as well?

Does your digital depth number always show the correct depth?

If it's just the chart, use your arrow keys to move the cursor down on the screen to see if you can find the bottom again. It's possible you are in manual depth range, with the range set to 20'. Enable automatic depth range in the menu if this is the issue.

If both the digital depth number and the chart go blank when you get in deeper water try this. Verify that your transducer is pointing straight down. Shut off everything electrical in the boat except the Lowrance unit. Make sure you are in automatic depth range and automatic sensitivity modes. If you are still having an issue when the boat is just drifting along in deeper water, than I suspect your transducer is going out.

Have you verified the battery voltage? These things are picky if the voltage gets weak.
