I have a sonar / gps sonar built into the dash on the bow ( internal attena) that keeps aqurring siginal and losing siginal. On the counsel I have a sonar / gps in the dash with external attena. Can I network those two units together so the unit on the bow does not use its internal attena and uses the external for the gps on the cousel so both units have gps location and the ability to save and share waypoints?

The lms522C iGPS should not be flush mounted, as it interferes with the antenna function.

Ok, have another issue dealing with my HDS 5 powering on. I installed a new power cable on my counsel for running a 2nd unit. With only the new power cable plugged in the hds 5 turns on and off right away, when I plug my 522c unit into that new cable the unit powers on and remains on, when power on the hds 5 unit using the cable thats wired to my bow unit the unit maintains power on and works fine.
Whats going on??? |

Check the electrical connections to that new power cord- unless they were soldered, there may be a bad crimp or other poor connection.

Chris Meyer:
Has Lowrance set an end-of-support date for the LMS52x series of combo sonar-gps units? I'd like to know how much longer I can expect to get my "legacy" LMS527c serviced. Last edited by yarcraft91; 06-09-2010 at 02:42 PM. |

Fishing,
In response to your original question, Yes. Put them all on a NEMA 2000 network and you can run up to 5 units with your one 3000 puck. Lots of info on this site and Lowrance site about setting up a LowranceNet network (not ethernet). Once you get all of the head units on the network, its a matter of a few settings in the Network Bus menu to turn off the "auto" feature for multiple antennas, turn off the internal antenna on your 522, select the 3000 as your "active" antenna and you are done. Your head units are smart enough (with the newest software updates) that once you plug it all in it will just start working, but if you dont "tell" the network which GPS antenna to use it will typically switch back and forth between the two GPS antennas depending on which has a stronger signal, and you will get lapses in GPS data as it changes (speed will flash, etc.) I have a similar setup with a 527c, and LCX-37, and a LCX-25 all networked and sharing a 3000 puck and it works well. If you need any more details more than happy to share. Good Luck Mike |
