I see that Cabela's are now selling Fish Eagle boats. To be honest I had never heard of them before last friday when I stopped in at the Richfield WI store. I wanted to start convincing my wife that a new Alumacraft should be in my future, and of course she gravitated right over to the shiny Fish Eagles. It might be easier to convince her that she is right, but I wanted to check in with the guys on WC to give some honest opinions on what you understand about these boats. The salesman told me that they are made for Cabela's by Larson. Now as far as I know, Larson makes a fine boat, but I never even considered a fiberglass boat for my needs mainly because of price, but they had one for 16,999. 16' 90 hp 4s Yamaha, trolling, depth finder and trailer. That got my interst! What do you guys know?

Fincraft from what I understand is an Irwin Jacobs spinoff. Supposedly alot of the Ranger ideas are incorporated but at a different budget point. I said ideas, not plans or techniques. I have crawled around them at my local Cabelas store and to be honest, I think for the money it's a **** of a boat. It's not a ranger in the fit and finish department or color/stripe layout but if I was boat shopping with a budget I would have to get one on these on the water to see what it's like.
If I remember, I saw a 18' glass boat with a 150 Opti with windshield for well under 30 grand. Not bad but you can see where they keep their cost down. The grab handles look like pieces of rope instead of a molded handle, the cup holder are cheaper and so on. But for the money.....

I was curious about them also so I stopped at Link Recreation in Minong today. They had the 16-17-18 foot boats there.
The guy said that the larger boat used VEC from Larsen boats. He said it's the hull of the ski boat with a different topside for fishing. They also are considering naming them Larsen Fish Eagle as Fincraft is not recognizable by most. They are a very deep, high sided boat. (17-18ft) The windshield was very large. I thought they wasted quite a bit of space with gunnels that are about 1 foot thick from the rail bumper to the inside. No side storage either. Nothing really stood out in quality or fit. Seemed about average. Even though it has a large wide beam, the interior did not have a spacious look. My 617 is bigger inside I think. Another thing I noticed is that it sat VERY high on the trailer. To climb in without using the fender steps required a 6 foot step ladder. I guess that is due to the high sides. I think the 18 came with a 115 Opti for $23,000. D |

I really don't like the styling of the hull. Looks kind of like a bad try at wings on a 50's car.
