Batteries

Went to sears today to buy 2 Diehard Platinum series 31 for my trolling motor. I was shocked to see a maufacture date of 12-08. There was no way I was going to buy these batteries. Iasked about ordering some, his response was I may get some older ones. I told him I would be interested in batteries over 60 days from manufacture date. He said good luck. I went to batteries plus they have a dry cell with 5 year full replacement. Chargers might be a challenge, I cannot find a onboard charger for drycell batteries. I always enjoy everyones opionions and experiences, please help. What should a person do?
