While growing up, my family never had cable or satellite TV, which is probably why I have such a love for the outdoors. I left home, did a few years in the Navy where I couldn't see paying $100/month to have cable on my limited income.
Fast forward to now, I can afford a few luxuries so I sprung for HD cable and I paid an extra couple bucks to get the outdoor channel, sportsman channel, and World Fishing Network. They include some pretty good programs, especially WFN. However, I find every last one of the hunting shows absolutely disgusting. Not only are they all the same, but there is hardly any fair chase hunts, and all they do are plug their sponsors. They show none of the prep work that goes into hunting...unless they show how they plant their food plots (while plugging there seed, ATV, and equipment sponsors)...which I don't see as any different than baiting. It's almost as though anyone with a digital video camera and enough money to go to some ranch can have a TV show. I think the best show running is probably "Jimmy Big Time", and that's only because he does such a good job of making fun of the other shows. I know some of you may argue "then don't watch them", and you're right, I probably shouldn't. I watch fishing shows and learn something new everyday. Is it to much to ask to try to learn something other than if I have a ton of money I can pay to go kill a trophy? Sorry for the just wondering if anyone else feels the same way?
